COX & KINGS TRAVEL BUSINESSES JOIN HANDS AGAINST MENINGITIS
LEADING travel company Cox & Kings Australia has launched a major fundraising effort to make the journey a little easier for people facing meningitis.

Cox & Kings Australia announced today that on World Meningitis Day, April 24, 2010, it would donate $10 from every booking made across its three brands - Cox & Kings, Bentours and Tempo Holidays - to assist the worthy cause.

Steve Reynolds, Chief Executive Officer for Cox & Kings Australia said the company was delighted to be doing its part in supporting the Confederation of Meningitis Organisations (CoMO) in its Joining Hands initiative.

"These types of causes mean a lot to Cox & Kings Australia and we are honoured to be assisting CoMO in carrying out its crucial work in delivering vital information and support services for those affected by meningitis," he said.

For those planning on taking a holiday it might be timely to remember that life isn't a holiday for everybody .

"April 24 is a good day to acknowledge that by booking through Cox & Kings, Bentours or Tempo Holidays where we will donate $10 from every booking to this wonderful group dedicated to the elimination of meningitis and septicaemia," he said.

Mr Reynolds said Cox & Kings Australia also encouraged people to show their support for the cause by joining the online community at http://www.comoonline.org/JoiningHands.aspx

ABOUT MENINGITIS: Meningitis is the name given to the inflammation of the membranes, called the meninges, which surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It can be caused by many different organisms including bacteria, viruses and fungi. Some of the bacteria can also cause septicaemia (blood poisoning) as well as meningitis. Vaccines are the only way to prevent meningitis and there are a number available against the different types and strains of bacteria. However, until there are vaccines against all causative bacteria it is vital to know the signs and symptoms and the actions to take.

Cox & Kings Australia buys Bentours
Scandinavian and Eastern European specialist Bentours has been purchased by Cox & Kings Australia for an undisclosed sum.

Bentours completes destination coverage of the Greater Europe region for Cox & King's operations in Australia and New Zealand without expanding the brand of Tempo Holidays, which Cox & Kings purchased 12 months ago.

Bentours will continue to operate as a stand alone brand from its Sydney base but will be managed by Tempo Holidays management team in Melbourne and access the travel agency distribution and technologies of Tempo Holidays.

The purchase continues Cox & Kings' strategy of growth in the Australian market and investment in quality brands, according to Cox & Kings Australia CEO, Steve Reynolds, who negotiated the purchase.

"Bentours is a natural fit with Tempo Holidays," he said. "Bentours shares Tempo's corporate values, it services the FIT and small groups market, it is a destination specialist, has strong trade associations, selects quality products, has a strong service ethic and invests in staff destination experience and knowledge."

"We will be leveraging resources and technology to optimise both operations," Mr Reynolds said.
Cox & Kings issues its first brochure
Melbourne. December 9, 2009. Cox and Kings (India) Ltd., one of the oldest travel brands in the travel and tourism industry, has issued its first brochure for Australian and New Zealand travellers.

The 68-page brochure carries 33 of Cox & Kings' escorted small group journeys in Africa, Europe, the Far East, Indian subcontinent, Latin America and the Middle East.

While many cover the popular destinations, the range includes one-country tours, to the likes of Romania, Syria, Ethiopia, Mongolia, Albania, Bhutan, Iran and Madagascar.

The brochure launch is the first initiative of Cox & Kings Australia Pty Ltd, the new business entity for Cox & Kings in Australia formalised on Monday (Dec 7). Cox & Kings Australia is the parent company for the product brands Tempo Holidays, Cox & Kings and ezeego1.com.

The brochure lists departure dates from January 2010 through to April 2011.

Cox & Kings tours generally use first class four or five-star hotels, lodges and camps or the best available. Where a holiday significantly differs from that standard because it is more luxurious or adventurous in its emphasis, it carries the term "Luxury" or "Discovery".

Cox & Kings last year purchased the 20 year-old Australian travel company Tempo Holidays which has selected tours from the Cox & Kings range best suited to the Australian and New Zealand market.

The brochure - designed to Cox & Kings international brochure format -- is being distributed by the Cox & Kings Australia office which also houses the Tempo Holidays team.

The small group (10-25 passengers) escorted tours in the brochure are the same as those operating out of the UK and the US, with Australian and New Zealander travellers joining and exiting the tours at gateway cities.

Prices include Cox & Kings-trained English-speaking tour escorts, accommodation, breakfasts (some include lunches and/or dinners), coach, local flights and entrance fees.

Tour examples: eight-day Classic Russia Luxury (from AUD$3825 per person twin share); 15-day Untouched Wilderness Patagonia (from $5866); 14-day Grand Tour of South Africa, (from $6645); 12-day Untouched Wilderness Namibia (from $5150); 14-day Land of Blue Sky Mongolia Discovery Tour (from $4286), 14-day Dragon Kingdom Bhutan Discovery Tour (from $4956); nine-day Japan's Cultural Treasures (from $4803); eight-day Wonders of Egypt (from $1888); 10-day China Experience (from $2316); and 14-day Grand Tour of Northern India (from $3860).

Cox & Kings Australia launch
Melbourne. December 7, 2009. Cox & Kings (India) Limited one of the oldest brands in the Travel & Tourism industry today formally enters the Australian and New Zealand market.

As of today, Cox & Kings Australia Pty Ltd becomes the corporate entity, operating the independent product brands of Cox & Kings, Tempo Holidays and Ezeego1.com

CEO of Cox & Kings Australia (and of each brand) is Steve Reynolds, who was CEO of Tempo Holidays when Cox & Kings purchased the 20-year old Australian wholesaler in November last year.

He said the current brand of Tempo Holidays would continue in its well established form, that is, as a destination specialist wholesaler specialising in the broadest range of product, service, unique experiences and tailored arrangements within the destinations currently served. The brochure range, call centre and sales support will remain unchanged and will continue to be supported by the existing management team.

"During the past 12 months Tempo Holidays has been subtly integrated into the C&K family by adopting common operating and accounting principles, technology, central resources and suppliers," he said. "We are now ready to expand the Cox & Kings business here using Cox & Kings Australia as the vehicle," he said.

The first initiative of Cox & Kings Australia will be the launch this week of the first Cox & Kings Small Group Journeys brochure for the Australasian market.

Ezeego1 is a three year-old website developed by Cox & Kings in India. It is an "online travel supermarket" offering airfares, accommodation, car rental, cruises, rail, bus/coach tickets, holiday packages, and more. There is no comparable online product consolidator of this scale currently available to travel agents in Australia. Travel agents will be able to log into the website and make bookings for which they will earn a commission or can add a service fee.

Mr Reynolds said an Australian version will be launched early next year, stocked with product from Australian operators. Already, some 20 major brands have signed up to use this new distribution channel.
